Personalised Christmas Cards

Christmas cards range in colors, sizes and textures, just like our families. Some have been made at home and others have been professionally taken care of. There are so many different kinds of Christmas cards ranging from hand made paper cards to picture cards of our pets and kids, to those with the entire family's picture. Whatever your desire for a family Christmas card there are many neat ideas. My family loves to visit the mailbox following Thanksgiving and up to the New Year, exited to see whose card we get in the mail each day.

Receiving well wishes from friends and family during Christmas time is exciting in my house. We use them to decorate the mantel and adorn our refrigerator doors. It seems every year Christmas cards get even more interesting and many of my friends and family become even more creative.

While some of my friends and family seems more creative than others there are so many different options for a Christmas Card. One of my favorite cards we have made so far was created from traces of the kids hands onto brown construction paper and glued together to look as if antlers. Then we attached each of their pictures on the front of their hand prints. We have also made paper snowflakes that I used as the background to our Christmas photo.

By the looks of some of the Christmas cards I have received over the years some of my friends are very skilled photographers able to grab shots of the kids in action trimming the tree, playing in the snow, and playing with the family pets. I love the action shots. They are great. It doesn't matter if choose to create your own Christmas cards or have someone take care of them for you, there are so many creative ideas. For some added flare to our annual Christmas cards, I like to punch a couple holes on the tops of the cards and tie pretty ribbon through them.

If you aren't up for starting completey from scratch with your personalised Christmas cards but would like to add a little of your special touches there are many places where you could find card stock and make your own designs. While you wouldn't have to construct the card completely it would allow you the opportunity for creative creations that no one else will have. When I have done this before, I used a glitter pen to add some three dimensional pizzazz to the edges and then attached a picture I printed of the kids at home.

If you are one who likes to start from scratch and creative the entire card yourself, construction paper is a great tool to start with. It comes in a variety of colors and is sturdy and easy to use. My family and I have created some beautiful cards with construction paper, glue and glitter. We have created Christmas ornament cards, snowmen, Santa Claus and Christmas Trees. You can even add your pictures to the cards. My children really enjoy making the cards each year and it has become one of our family traditions.

Companies on the web are actually offering to add music to your Holiday cards. If you are looking to add something a little more personal this would be a great idea. Recording your family singing your favorite Christmas carol would be neat.

Each year, my family and I look forward to mailbox visits around Christmas. We really enjoy seeing the familiar warm faces of our loved ones wishing us well during such a special time of year. The creative ideas are always great to see.
